Mother’s Day DIY Ideas

Mother’s Day is quickly approaching! If you want to give your mom a fun present, without breaking the bank, you won’t want to miss the following Mother’s Day DIY ideas.

Teacup Candles

Take some time to whip up a homemade candle for your mom. You will need the following:

  • Vintage teacups, easily found at any One Dollar Zone
  • Eco friendly candle wax flakes
  • Wooden kabob skewer sticks
  • Scotch tape and scissors
  • A stove, double boiler, and bowl

Now that you have gathered all of the supplies, here is how you can make the candles:

  • Make wooden wick supports to lay over the top of the teacups. This can be accomplished by taping together two wooden sticks at the end. Slide in a wax wick to sit between the two wooden sticks and clamp shut the opposite ends. Tape this together.
  • Fill a pan or double boiler with water and add wax to a bowl and place on top. Once the wax flakes start to melt, add the candle scent and color.
  • Once the wax has completely melted and the scent has absorbed, take the wax off of the burner. Using oven mitts, fill in the tea cups until about a quarter of an inch of cup is still showing.
  • Quickly wash the bowl to avoid the wax drying.

Manicure Kit

Set your mom up for a DIY spa day. Here’s what you will need:

  • Glass jar
  • Nail clippers
  • Nail file
  • Pumice stone
  • Cuticle cream
  • Nail brush
  • Nail polish remover

Once you have all of the supplies, add them to the glass jar and present it to your mom.
